Building Design Context

Now-a-days; there are many computer aided technologies and software to manage the Project Management Information System (PMIS); such as Aconex and I*PMIS.

In Construction of Buildings, the project information and process management consists of hundreds to thousands of activities, depending on the size and complexity; which requires instructions, activation, audit, delivery and certifications.

This includes managing; processes, documents, drawings, building information models, communications, workflows, audit trails, and other project information.

Digitalizing the PMIS had scored lots of success during the last three decades, and increasingly became an inevitable backbone of the construction world.

Yet, there are lots of misunderstanding of the principles of such tools and methodology; and how to obtain the best out of it.

This slide is purposely made to Simplify the Design Delivery in a Comprehensive Context, based on hybrid context between conventional and new tools.

FEED: Front End Engineering Design
CD: Concept Design
SD: Schematic Design
DD: Detailed Design
IFC: Issue For Construction
NOC: No Objection Certificate
APP: Approval
AAN: Approved As Noted

Pre-Concept, Site Assessment and Feasibility Development are part of the FEED; which may or may not continue into Design Contract.

During design; Change is part of Design Development.
During construction, it is a complicated and separate process.

The computer based PMIS is based on authorization structure, identify discrepancies and replacing the documents after gaining the approvals with the following stage's documents.

This slide is an attempt on Managing Design Delivery and Close out.
