Preservation Vernacular Architecture

An Attempt by
Mugahid Abbas

For sure, simplicity of solutions is a fundamental practice in preservation and restoring, yet evolves with complexities. Certainly, structural, environmental and chemical hazards, malfunctions and interactions have serious, multiple and combined implications on Mud/Earthen/Vernacular Architecture; which is the most ancient (yet, mostly unintellectual) form of the built environment.

Most conservationists have lots of challenges to address and find lasting solutions to preserve, as commonly and primarily associated with prohibition or limitation of use, but external observations. Analysis of the materials and functionality have no standard or unified forms, as ingredients are not typical nor standardized.

Preservation of immovable heritage is purely scientific and research-based endeavor, to maintain the records of our intellectual history. Certainly, all ideas and attempts are encouraged, yet have to maintain the authenticity for the coming generations to celebrate.
