New Traditional Architecture

A THOUSAND MORE NEEDED:
If one want to know what a modernistic city would be like, then go no further than to Germany's capital Berlin. While the amount of new traditional projects and reconstructions are really getting momentum, its a huge undertaking to make a city of this size beautiful again. And the sheer quantity of soul crushing ugly modernism can make anyone depressed. This new decent looking project has what the city need at this stage. A green private courtyard, underground parking and good enough beauty to lift ones heart. A pity the bad facade balconies and is something the architect need to stop with. But in general, a great project that the city need a thousand more of.

THE MILESTONE: While we wait for the next round of Sebastian Treese projects, it is good to remind us what really made him famous. The project "Eisenzahn 1" was completed three years ago and set a new standard in Germany. Unlike many other new classical projects it did not compromise on height (sticking to six storeys while seven was allowed) nor add ugly (and useless) balconies to the front facade. Colour and figurative ornament could have pushed this project even further, yet for the current time it is a milestone in Germany.
